Default VinQuest 2007 - Free Research Report for Winery Participants

Hello All,

I was not quite sure where to post this announcement, but I wanted to invite all winery members of this forum to participate in our VinQuest 2007 Consumer Direct Wine Sales Survey.

Qualified U.S. wineries that complete this confidential 5-10 minute online survey by Feb 9, 2007 will receive a free copy of the research results -- valued at $149.

Click here to begin the survey.

Now in it's third year, the VinQuest research project is a collaborative effort between VinterActive LLC, leading U.S. wine industry associations & individual wineries to estimate the amount of wine sold direct to consumers by U.S. wineries and to identify the best practices used in tasting room, wine club and online sales/marketing management.

With input from 350 U.S. wineries last year, VinQuest has become the largest and most widely used source of consumer direct sales/marketing data in the U.S. wine industry and your participation can make it even better in 2007.

There is no "catch" here...as a truly collaborative research, all participating wineries and winery associations will receive a free summary of our research results when they are completed in March 2007.

Of course, we will also be sharing key results with this forum when they become available.

Happy Selling!

We look forward to the results.

Out of curiousity, why do you limit your research to wineries? I know many, myself included, who would like to see online retailers (non-wineries) data included.

Good question! The VinQuest winery research came about because we felt we could get enough response to provide statistically significant results.

Unlike bonded wineries, I don't know how many online retailers exist or how many we'd need to contact for a reasonable sample. And other than this forum, I'm not sure how to even get in touch. But that being said, we'd love to help get this type of research off the ground...maybe just start here with this community.

Anyone have a list of questions you'd like to see us ask online wine retailers?

Happy Selling!

I cant find anything on the most simplistic internet retailer common questions:
What is the sales volume of the online retail market? Quantity and revenue.
If you are a brick and mortar retailer also, what percentage of your sales are online?
What have been the sales trends in the past few years?
Are online sales increasing by over 100% as they have for some? If so, this is proof that we need more data from this industry.
The usual - varietals / brand popularity?

At the end of the day I would love to see the impact the online retail industry has on the wine market as a whole. The wine institute says that online may be less than 1% of sales, so no one provides any research. However, this is a potential market that could be HUGE for the product and everyone seems to be ignoring it. There are people making a living off of being an internet wine retailer, but all data revolves around small wineries who sell direct to the public.
