Sales Taxes in California

Hello everybody. Not being American is giving me a little headache :-). I am trying to understand all the legal aspects related to the wine importing business and now I am dealing with the Board of Equalization.

My question, that for many will look like a dumb question, and I apologize for that, IS:

do we have to pay sales taxes if we sell to resales or wholesalers?

Yes, I believe you get taxed either one the way IN or OUT of touching the product. Can anyone confirm what stage you get taxed?

Wholesalers do not pay sales taxes, unless you sell directly to consumers (ABC Type 20). The retailers are responsible for collecting and reporting sales taxes to BOE.
